I love my saddle right saddle pad. It’s by far the best half pad I’ve bought. My TB has kissing spine and this saddle pad has made a significant difference in her demeanor while tacking up and has made training more pleasant. It was recommended by my vet. I think it’s worth the cost and the wait for manufacturing. I wish saddle right would make a full English saddle pad!

These saddle pads are far and away the best ones on the market. I have three and recommend them to anyone looking for a half pad for jumping or dressage. The leather is easy to keep clean, the pads are discrete for showing, and the material never dents, wrinkles, or thins. I’ve had one of my jumping pads for 10 years now and it looks and functions as if it were brand new. My horses have never had back soreness using these pads (and like all equines, bless their hearts, if it were a possibility they would have found a way!) These pads are marvelous and will last forever.

mine is 20 years old and the suede has worn beautifully along with the felt never any problems

I particularly like the glove leather pads as the quality of the leather is so nice. I use a barrel pad under my treeless saddle and that has also worked very well to keep my horse's back happy but maintain the close contact feel and reduce slipping.

FAQ
What size English saddle pad do I need?
To determine the right size English saddle pad, start by measuring your saddle seat. Measure from just under the swells (front) to just under the cantle (back) at the longest point—this gives you the seat length. Next, add 4 inches to that measurement to find the correct back length of the pad. For example, if your saddle measures 17½ inches, round up to 18 and add 4 inches, resulting in a 22-inch back length.
Standard pad sizes work well for riders up to 190 lbs. If you weigh between 191–300 lbs, we recommend upgrading our Glove Leather pad which has an upgrade option of adding an additional ½ inch of core material for added support and performance.
Is this product an English half pad or a full pad?
Our SaddleRight English pads are uniquely shaped pads that don’t fall strictly into the "half pad" or "full pad" category. They are designed to provide the targeted support of a half pad, while offering more surface area and customized coverage than traditional half pads. Each pad is tailored to your seat size for a precise fit and close contact feel, which helps eliminate unnecessary bulk under the saddle. These shaped saddle pads are ideal for riders who want orthopedic protection and enhanced performance without the extra bulk of a full-size pad. Fits Hunter, Jumper, or Dressage saddles.
Do you offer custom or personalized English saddle pads?
Yes, we do. Our glove leather English saddle pads can be personalized with embroidery on both sides. You can add initials, logos, brand marks, or other designs for an additional fee. To get the best results, we require a digitized file or a high-quality PDF of your artwork. Hand-drawn designs are not accepted. If your artwork is not digitized, there may be an extra charge to convert it. Custom embroidery adds a unique and professional touch while maintaining the performance and quality you expect from SaddleRight.
How do I clean and care for my English saddle pad?
Proper care keeps your SaddleRight English saddle pad performing at its best.
For suede pads, we recommend storing them inside-out in a well-ventilated area and brushing the top side monthly with a soft brush. Use a rubber curry or stiff brush (not metal) to remove hair from the underside. For deep cleaning, you can sponge with diluted Dawn dish soap or saddle soap, rinse thoroughly, and let the pad dry inside-out in a hanging position. If the pad becomes stiff from heavy sweat or dirt, lay it flat, gently pound hard areas with a hammer, and rinse using a hose or power washer at a distance. (DO NOT POWER WASH AT CLOSE RANGE)
Glove leather pads should be cleaned with a leather cleaner or saddle soap, followed by a quality leather conditioner - avoid wax-based products. The underside can be cleaned using the same method as suede pads. Always allow the pad to dry fully before storing or reusing.
What color options are available for your English saddle pads?
We offer a wide variety of color choices to help you find the perfect English saddle pad to match your tack and personal style. Our premium glove leather pads come in classic black or brown, ideal for riders who prefer a traditional look. For those seeking something more vibrant or fun, we offer over 20 suede options - including customer favorites like pink English saddle pad, purple English saddle pad, hot pink English saddle pad, red English saddle pad, yellow English saddle pad, and more.

Do SaddleRight English saddle pads work under Hunter, Jumper, or Dressage saddles?

How do English Saddle Pads help riders feel closer contact with the horse?
The slim, contoured design of SaddleRight English pads allows for better communication and balance between horse and rider, giving you a more natural feel on the side of the horse.
Are these pads suitable for show jumping and other competitive events?
Yes. Both the English Glove Leather Pad and English Suede Pad are designed to fit securely under a Hunter, Jumper, or Dressage saddle, making them an excellent choice for show jumping and other English riding disciplines.
What makes these pads different from other horse saddle pads?
Unlike many pads made with synthetic materials, SaddleRight English pads use top grain glove leather or suede with a wool felt underside, ensuring comfort, durability, and long-term performance for horseback riding.
Can English Saddle Pads be used for long hours of riding?
Absolutely. The advanced support system helps protect the horse’s back and reduces rider fatigue, making them ideal for training sessions, trail riding, or any situation where you’ll be in the saddle for long hours.
