SaddleRight Saddle Pads: The Best Choice for Sway Back Horses and High Withers

By Saddle Right | April 2, 2025

Finding the right saddle pad is crucial for your horse’s comfort and performance. If your horse has a sway back or high withers, standard saddle pads may not provide the support and protection needed. That’s where SaddleRight saddle pads come in—designed with orthopedic precision to offer superior wither relief and back support.

Support for Sway Back Horses

Horses with a sway back have a noticeable dip in their spine, which can lead to improper saddle fit and pressure points. A poorly fitted saddle can cause discomfort, soreness, and long-term issues. SaddleRight saddle pads help by:

  • Providing even weight distribution – The advanced orthopedic material fills the gap created by a sway back, ensuring the saddle sits correctly.
  • Reducing pressure points – The pad’s structure prevents excessive pressure on the spine, helping maintain a comfortable ride.
  • Improving saddle stability – With a contoured design, the pad keeps the saddle from rocking or shifting, improving security for both horse and rider.

High Withers Saddle Pad Solution

Horses with high withers often struggle with saddle pressure and rubbing, leading to soreness and reduced performance. SaddleRight saddle pads offer the perfect solution by:

  • Ensuring proper clearance – The open wither design is ergonomic and lifts the saddle away from the withers, preventing direct contact and irritation.
  • Supporting natural movement – The flexible yet firm padding adapts to the horse’s shape, allowing free shoulder movement.
  • Enhancing comfort with orthopedic technology – Made with shock-absorbing materials, the pad helps distribute impact evenly across the back.

Wither Relief Saddle Pads for Optimal Comfort

SaddleRight’s wither relief saddle pads are designed to alleviate pressure and improve fit for horses with prominent withers. Key benefits include:

  • Contoured fit – The pad molds to the horse’s back, ensuring a snug fit that won’t create unnecessary pressure.
  • Non-slip design – Keeps the saddle securely in place, reducing the risk of rubbing and discomfort.
  • Durability and longevity – Unlike traditional foam or gel pads, SaddleRight pads maintain their shape and support over time.
